How to improve the performance of the VAIO computer using Task Manager in Windows 8?
- How to Launch the Task Manager
- Display the Charms menu by placing the cursor on the top right hand corner or bottom right hand corner.
- Select Search.
- Scroll to the right and select Task Manager.
- Select More details.
- Detailed information of system is now displayed.
- Improve the overall Performance of the PC using the Task Manager
- End the processes that take up the most Memory by following the steps below:
- Select the Processes tab.
- Right Click on Memory.
- Highlight Resource values.
- Highlight Memory.
- Select Percents.
Note: This allows us to better understand which process is taking up the most memory in terms of percentage - Click Memory so that the arrow is pointing down to display the process that takes up the most memory to be displayed on top.
- Select a process that takes up the highest memory.
- Right Click on the process and select End Task.
- End the processes that takes up the most CPU by following the steps below:
- Select the Processes tab.
- Right Click on CPU.
- Highlight Resource values.
- Highlight CPU.
- Select Percents.
Note: This allows us to better understand which process is taking up the most memory in terms of percentage - Click CPU so that the arrow is pointing down to display the process that takes up the most memory to be displayed on top.
- Select a process that takes up the highest CPU
- Right Click on the process and select End Task.
- End the processes that take up the most Memory by following the steps below:
- Improve the Boot Performance using the Task Manager
- Select the Startup tab.
- Observe the Startup impact and locate which application has a High or Medium impact.
- Right Click on application and choose Disable.
Note: This will prevent the application from starting up - Warning: Please choose carefully before disabling the application. Some application may be important to startup during boot. User can enable applications if it is disabled.
