LED Indicator lights are normally found on the lower front of the TV. There may be one or more lights and on newer sets, one light may change colour to indicate different conditions or to show that certain features are enabled.
Check the following for common meanings of the indicator lights and troubleshooting steps to help resolve any issues.
If a Red LED is blinking and the TV is not working properly, it indicates a detected issue. Most Red LED blink conditions require service. The number of blinks usually ranges from 2 to 8 and varies by model.
- For 8 Times Blink: Some models need a special reset if the Red LED blinks 8 times. Refer to the specific reset procedure to check if it applies to your model and follow the instructions.
- For 2 to 7 Times Blink: Please refer to the troubleshooting steps below.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Restart the TV:
- Turn off the TV and then turn it back on.
- If TV is unresponsive, unplug the TV.
- For Projection TVs or Projectors: wait three minutes.
- For other TVs: wait one minute.
Then plug it back in and turn it on.
Notes: If using a power strip, plug the TV directly into the wall. If this resolves the issue, the problem is with the power strip.
- Ensure Proper Ventilation:
- Clean the vents/slots in the TV cabinet.
- Ensure there is space around the TV for air circulation.
- Disconnect All Devices:
- Turn off the TV and unplug all connected devices.
- Turn the TV back on. If it no longer blinks, the issue may be with one of the connected devices.
- Update TV Software:
- If the TV is connected to the Internet, use the remote to access the settings menu and select Software Update.
- Alternatively, you can refer to How to perform a software update for updating steps.
Notes: Some models only update automatically. Ensure Automatic Software Updates is turned on if available.
Specific Product Checks:
- For TVs with a media box, ensure the cable between the media box and the display is securely connected.
- For Projection TVs and Projectors, ensure the lamp cover/door is closed and secure.

Troubleshooting steps are available depending on the issue:
Timer:
A solid Orange/Amber light means that a timer has been set and is active on the television.
- Sleep Timer - the TV will turn off after a set amount of time
- On/Off Timer - turns the TV on and off at set times of the day
Note: Timers can be set, changed, or turned on/off in the Settings menu of the television.
Software Update:
- For an Orange/Amber blinking light with LCD and Plasma displays that have a media box (tuner) and separate display, check to make sure the cable between the media box and the display securely connected.
- For other TVs, a blinking Orange/Amber light means that the television is receiving a software update. This only happens if your TV is connected to an active high-speed Internet connection.
Notes:
- Do not turn off the television or remove power during a software update.
- Your remote control will not work while an update is being downloaded/installed.
- Updates may take a few minutes to download and install. Please be patient. The TV will return to normal operation after the update finishes.
Check the troubleshooting steps depending on the status of the TV.
Blinking while TV is turning on:
- A Green or White light may blink while the TV is powering on. This is normal and will stop once the TV comes on. If the light continues to blink and the TV does not come on or if the TV comes on and then turns off and the process starts over again, unplug the TV for 3 minutes then plug it back in and try again. If the problem continues, the TV will need to be serviced.
- If a Green or White light blinks followed by a Red blinking light, follow the steps above for the Red blinking light.
Solid or blinking while the TV is on:
- A solid Green or White light on the front of the television means that the TV power is on.
- A Green or White light that blinks when you press a button on the remote control simply shows that the TV is receiving the signal from the remote. Not all televisions have this feature.
Note: Some newer TVs have a White LED in lower centre under the screen. If desired, this LED can be turned off in system settings.
If the Lamp Light is blinking it means that the lamp has burned out and needs to be replaced.
Notes:
- When replacing the lamp be sure not to touch the glass surface. If you accidentally touch the surface of the lamp, clean it with an alcohol wipe to remove any oil residue. If you do not do this, the life of the lamp can be shortened.
- Make sure to properly close and secure the covers/doors for the lamp.
- TV is turned off or the TV is not plugged in.
- On some sets, this may indicate that the Energy Saving Switch on the side of the TV is turned off. If your TV has this switch, it must be turned on for the TV to operate.
