When connecting a Home Theater System or AV amplifier over HDMI, 4K picture such as PlayStation4 Pro cannot be displayed

    This article is designed for 4K-compatible models released in 2016 or later.

    The solution differs depending on the video signals. Make sure to check the following:

    Note: The solution differs depending on whether the picture that is not displayed in high-definition Enhanced format, HDR or Standard format.

    1. When the picture of enhanced formats such as high-definition 4K/60p YCbCr 4:4:4 8 bit is not displayed
    2. When the HDR picture is not displayed
    3. When the picture of standard such as 4K/60p YCbCr 4:2:0 8 bit
    1. When the picture of enhanced formats such as high-definition 4K/60p YCbCr 4:4:4 8 bit is not displayed.
      • Check that you connect with a Premium High Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet that supports 18Gbps.
      • Check that HDMI Signal Format for your Home Theatre system or AV amplifier is set to Enhanced Format.
      • Check that your TV supports the high-definition 4K video format.

        Note: Check that HDMI Signal Format for your High-Definition BRAVIA TV 4K is set to Enhanced Format.

    2. When the HDR picture is not displayed

      Check that the HDR setting is enabled for your HDR output device such as PlayStation4, PlayStation4 Pro.

      Note: To enable HDR settings on your PlayStation4, PlayStation4 Pro:

      1. From the Home screen go to Settings.
      2. Select Sound and Screen.
      3. Select Video Output Settings.
      4. Check that HDR is set to Automatic.
    3. When the picture of standard such as 4K/60p YCbCr 4:2:0 8 bit
      • Check that you connect with a Premium High Speed HDMI cable with Ethernet or Sony High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet with the Cable Type Logo.
      • Check that your TV supports the high definition 4K video format.

    4K signals may not be output depending on the contents or specifications of video output devices such as PlayStation4 Pro. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the output device.
