What to do if the VAIO notebook automatically restarts when it is running in Windows XP?

    The VAIO notebook automatically restarts when it is running in Windows XP.


    If the VAIO notebook preinstalled with Windows XP restarts by itself when it is running, please make check the following.




    ■Was additional software installed on the computer?
    ■Was upgrading device (including Internal Memory) added to the computer recently?
    ■ Is the computer connected to an additional device?
    ■ Has the computer been infected with viruses?
    ■ Is the symptom resolved after closing all the resident software?
    ■ Is the symptom resolved after performing a System Restore?
    ■ Is the symptom resolved after system recovery?



    Was additional software installed on the computer?

    If there is, please first uninstall the software, and then check whether the symptom is resolved.
    Please also confirm whether the software is compatible with Windows XP.





    Was upgrading device (including Internal Memory) added to the computer recently?

    If so, please remove it, and then check whether the symptom is resolved.

    If certain upgrading device whose compatibility Sony cannot guarantee, the VAIO notebook may not work properly.

    Is the computer connected to an additional device?
