The mouse pointer moves by itself or the cursor moves to unintended locations

1. The mouse pointer moves even in the situation the stick is untouched.
2. The cursor moves to the location that was not selected by the pointer.

Check the problem following the procedure below.
1. If you install other manufacturer's USB mouse driver or software that changes the cursor settings, the mouse may not move correctly. Check if you have installed a mouse related driver or software.
2. The pointer (mouse cursor) may move by itself when the stick is not used under the normal operating condition. This symptom is called "drift" and it is not a failure.
Remove your fingers from the stick for a while, and the pointer stops moving.
In addition, check if your hand on the palm rest touches or presses arrow keys. Especially, the left arrow key can be pressed easily.
3. Check the sensitivity of the stick.
Click [Start] and point [Settings], then open [Control Panel] and double-click [Stick]. On the tab Sensitivity, make sure that the slider of "Stick Sensitivity" is located midway between "Heavy" and "Light." If the slider is not in the middle, move the slider to the middle. Click [OK] to close the Stick Properties dialog box.
4. The cap for the stick may be set incorrectly. Make sure that the cap is not tilted.
*If it is tilted, a malfunction may occur.
5. After you tried all the above, if the cursor is still moving, turn off the power of the system and then turn on the power again.
When the power is turned on, the stick is initialized.
6. After the system is started, if the cursor is still moving, contact the VAIO customer link.
