Will a message notification be dismissed after replying to it?

When you receive a message to the Messaging application or to the Android™ Messages application on your Xperia™ device running on Android™ 7.0 and 7.1 (Nougat), you are able to type and send an answer in the notification. This means that you do not have to open the application in order to type and send an answer.

Messaging application

• In Android™ 7 (Nougat) the notification will disappear when replying to a message from within the notification (Quick Reply), whereas in Android™ 7.1 (Nougat) the notification will not disappear.

Android™ Messages application

• In the latest version of the application the notification stays when replying to a message from the notification (Quick Reply).
