Internet calls are dropped when I turn off the screen
You might experience that Skype conversations or calls made using other Internet calling apps, for example, WhatsApp, Facebook™ Messenger, Hangouts or Viber, are suddenly dropped when the screen of your Xperia™ device is turned off. The reason that conversations are interrupted when you turn off the screen may be that STAMINA mode has been activated automatically to save battery power.
To solve the problem, try these actions one after the other. Verify after each action whether the problem was solved before trying the next one.
- Try deactivating STAMINA mode, either manually or by connecting a charger to your device. If this solves the problem, STAMINA mode has most likely caused the call to be dropped. Note! Once you have deactivated STAMINA mode, it may take a while before the problem disappears.
- To avoid the issue, remove the Internet calling app from the list of battery-optimised apps in Settings. When the app has been removed from the list, you can continue using it.
- If deactivating STAMINA mode doesn't solve the problem, go to https://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/, select your device model, and enter My Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping in the search field. The troubleshooting article “My Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping” will suggest a number of Wi-Fi related solutions.
- If the Wi-Fi related solutions don't work, enter There is no network coverage or mobile data connection in the search field. The troubleshooting article “There is no network coverage or mobile data connection” will suggest a number of connectivity related solutions.
