What is one-touch listening (NFC) and how do I use it?

With one-touch listening, you can stream music or other audio from your Xperia smartphone or tablet to listening devices, for example, wireless speakers or wireless headphones. One-touch listening uses NFC and Bluetooth® to establish a connection and stream the sound, so your Xperia™ device and the listening device must support NFC and Bluetooth®.

With one-touch listening, you can listen to content from, for example, the Music app, YouTube™, Spotify, Internet-radio apps, podcast apps or audio book apps.

Compatible devices

• Xperia devices that support NFC.

To connect an Xperia device to a compatible one-touch Sony device

1. Turn on NFC on your Xperia device.
2. Make sure that the Xperia device screen is active, that is, not locked by a screen lock.
3. Hold the Xperia device over the NFC detection area of the listening device so the NFC area of each device comes within close contact. The NFC detection area is generally indicated by an N-mark. The listening device gets turned on, and the Bluetooth® pairing and connection procedure is completed. Some listening devices may need to be turned on manually.

Turning on NFC on your Xperia device

Android 5.x, 6.0 or 7.x

To turn on NFC on your Xperia device

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > More.
3. Drag the slider beside NFC to the right.

Android 4.4

To turn on NFC on your Xperia device

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > More ....
3. Mark the NFC checkbox.

Android 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3

To turn on NFC on your Xperia device

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > More ... > NFC.
3. Mark the NFC checkbox.

Android 2.3

To turn on NFC on your Xperia device

1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Wireless & networks > NFC.
3. Mark the NFC checkbox.
