How do I set default apps? (Android 6.0, 7.0 or 8.0)

    In Android version 6.0 or higher it is possible to replace a default app with a third-party app, for example by changing browser from Chrome to Firefox. You can change the following default apps:

    • Assist & voice input
    • Browser app
    • Home app (Android 7.x and 8.0)
    • Phone app
    • SMS app
    • Tap & pay (Android 8.0)

    Android 8.0

    To set a default app

    1. Find and tap Settings > Apps & notifications > Advanced > Default apps.
    2. Tap the type of app you want to set, and then tap the app you want to use as default.

    Android 7.0, 7.1 or 7.1.1

    To set a default app

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
    3. Tap the gear icon .
    4. Tap the type of app you want to set, and then tap the app you want to use as default.

    Android 6.0

    To set a default app

    1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
    2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
    3. Tap the gear icon  > Default Apps.
    4. Tap the type of app you want to set, and then tap the app you want to use as default.
