What is Super Slow Motion and Predictive Capture?

The Motion Eye camera in Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact and Xperia XZ3 allows you to record movies in Super Slow Motion, and allows Predictive Capture to take pictures before you even press the camera button.

What is Super Slow Motion?

Super Slow Motion records 960 frames per second, which means that Super Slow Motion lets you capture the action 32 times slower than in a regular movie. For the best result, make sure you record the movie in the right lighting conditions.

How to record in Super Slow Motion

1. Activate the camera.
2. Swipe to Video.
3. To enable Super Slow Motion, tap the Super Slow Motion clip button.
4. To start recording a video, tap the record button.
5. Tap the Super Slow Motion clip button for a 0.18 sec Super Slow Motion clip. When the Super Slow Motion capturing is done, the Super Slow Motion clip button is disabled for 2 sec while the camera stores data. After this the button is enabled again.
6. To stop recording, tap the stop button.

What is Predictive Capture?

Predictive Capture detects movement in front of the camera lens, and starts to buffer images while you’re preparing to shoot. So if you clicked too late, just go back and choose from up to four captured photos taken from around one second before you clicked the camera button. If no movement has been detected, Predictive Capture will not be activated. Predictive Capture can only be activated when Superior Auto Mode is selected, and is set to Auto by default.

To select Superior Auto Mode

1. Activate the camera.
2. Swipe to Superior Auto Mode.

To enable/disable Predictive Capture

1. Activate the camera.
2. Swipe to Superior Auto Mode.
3. Tap the gear icon, then tap More.
4. Tap Predictive Capture, then select Auto or Off.
