How to configure the operating system to show all files and folders in Windows 8 and 8.1.

Follow these steps to configure the operating system to show all files and folders.

1. Open the File Explorer  window.

   NOTE: Because the File Explorer is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and a File Explorer window will open.

2. In the File Explorer window, click View.
   
3. On the View ribbon, click to put a check in the box next to Hidden items.
   
4. Click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Libraries window.

All files and folders on the computer will now be available to be viewed.
