VAIO Hangs, Freezes, Slow boot or Encountered BSOD.
Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue.
STEP 1:
Remove peripherals, dock, external devices and 3rd party RAM.
STEP 2:
Run full Antivirus scan with the supported Antivirus application.
STEP 3:
Remove unused applications from Startup.
STEP 4:
Use the Disk Cleanup utility to delete any unnecessary files from the hard drive.
STEP 5:
Install the latest updates on your computer with the software applications:
STEP 6:
Perform recovery using F10 or ASSIST button.

STEP 1:
Remove peripherals, dock, external devices and 3rd party RAM.
STEP 2:
Run full Antivirus scan with the supported Antivirus application.
- Open and run the installed security or antivirus software.
- Update the security or antivirus software to include the latest definitions.
- Follow the security or antivirus software instructions to complete a full system scan.
STEP 3:
Remove unused applications from Startup.
- Click the Start button, then in the Start Search box, type: msconfig.
- Press the Enter key.
- In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
- On the Startup tab, click to clear the box next to the desired item to prevent it from loading at Startup.
- Click the OK button.
- In the System Configuration dialog box, click the Restart button.
STEP 4:
Use the Disk Cleanup utility to delete any unnecessary files from the hard drive.
- Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and click Disk Cleanup.
- In the Disk Cleanup Options window, click either My files only or Files from all users on this computer.
- In the Disk Cleanup for (C:) box, click to select the boxes next to Temporary Files and Temporary Internet Files.
- Once all desired folders have been selected, click the OK button.
- In the Are you sure you want to permanently delete these files? box, click the Delete files button.
STEP 5:
Install the latest updates on your computer with the software applications:
- Windows Update
- VAIO Update
STEP 6:
Perform recovery using F10 or ASSIST button.

- Press ASSIST button when VAIO is already in shutdown mode. It will load the VAIO Care (Rescue Mode).
- Click on Start troubleshooting (recovery).
- Click on English (United States) on Language Selection
- Click on US on Keyboard Layout Selection.
- On the next window, click Troubleshoot.
- Under Troubleshoot tab, click VAIO Recovery.
- Choose the Operating System.
- On VAIO Rescue Mode, click on Select English and start VAIO Care (Rescue Mode).
- Click on Wizard.
- Click on Skip rescue.
- Click on Yes, I’m sure. and then click on Start recovery.
- Follow on-screen instructions.
Note: It will take approximately 3 hours to finish recovery.

- Close all open programs and turn off the computer.
- Disconnect all network connections.
- Disconnect all peripheral devices.
- Turn on the computer.
- When the VAIO screen is displayed, press the F10 key.
Notes:
- If an Edit Boot Options screen appears, press the Enter key.
- If a Windows Boot Manager screen appears, select VAIO Recovery Environment and then press the Enter key.
- If an Edit Boot Options screen appears, press the Enter key.
- In the VAIO Recovery Center window, under Choose a program, click to select the desired option:
- VAIO Hardware Diagnostics - Computer problems related to hardware can be diagnosed using this option.
- Restore C: Drive - This option is used to recovery the entire C: drive partition to its original factory software configuration.
- Restore Complete System - This option is used to delete all hard drive partitions and recovery the system to its original factory software configuration.
- Rescue Data - This option can be used to detect and save data to an external hard drive or removable media prior to a system recovery.
- VAIO Hardware Diagnostics - Computer problems related to hardware can be diagnosed using this option.
