About this update:
This utility upgrades Hard Disk Recorder SVR-HDT1000 firmware to version 4.10.r8588 and provides the following benefits:

  • Addition of Video data file playback feature.
    New format supported: MPEG-4 ASP with “.avi” extension.
    (For details about the "Playable types of files", please refer to the new Operating Instructions).

Warning:
Please confirm your recorder’s model name on the front panel.

  • Please follow the update instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the update process and may cause the Recorder to be unresponsive or to require repair.
  • Do not power off the Recorder or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the installation of the firmware update may cause the Recorder to be unresponsive or to require repair.

Before you start:

  1. Please use a quality branded USB memory stick to perform the firmware update.
    *Some USB memory sticks may not be recognized.
  2. You need a computer with a USB memory slot to copy the software.
  3. Check the HDD Recorder firmware version:
    • Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the HDD Recorder is connected.
    • Power on the HDD Recorder.
    • On the remote control, Press the SYSTEM MENU button.
    • Select Others
    • Press the ENTER button.
    • Select Diagnostics.
    • Press the ENTER button.
    • Select System Information.
    • Press the ENTER button.
    • The firmware version currently installed on the HDD Recorder will be listed on the television screen as SW version. If the version number is 8588 or higher, your HDD Recorder does not need to be updated.
    • To exit, press the RETURN button 3 times.

Download and Installation procedure

Warning: Please read all the information carefully and thoroughly before downloading and installing any file.

  1. Save the update file to your computer Desktop.
  2. When the update is complete, check that the file is 28,840,341 bytes.
    To do so, right click the file, select properties and check that the General tab displays the following size information:
     

    If the size information displayed on your computer is different, delete the downloaded file, clear your internet browser's cache and download it again.
  3. Unzip the download zip file and copy to a root folder of USB memory.

    Important note: 
    Make sure the copy was correctly done without any error. In case of doubt, copy it again.

Firmware update procedure
Notes:

  • Do not turn off the HDD recorder or disconnect the HDD recorder from the power supply during the update process.
  • Doing so may damage your Recorder and make it unusable, and would require a repair of the HDD recorder.
  • Do not press any button, except as instructed, until the update is complete.

  • The firmware update process may take up to 5 minutes.
    First read the whole procedure before starting to update the firmware of your HDD recorder.

PROCEDURE

  1. Power on your HDD recorder by pressing POWER button.
  2. Insert the USB memory stored update software to front panel USB jack.
  3. Press the SYSTEM MENU button on the remote control.
  4. Select Others then press the ENTER button.
  5. Select Maintenance then press the ENTER button.
  6. Select Software Update then press the ENTER button.
  7. Enter your password. (default password is 0000)
  8. Select USB then press the ENTER button. The update starts automatically.
  9. Do not perform any operations until update completes. When update starts, a TV’s screen will appear a updating message.
  10. The recorder will reboot automatically.
  11. Press the TITLE LIST button on the remote control.
  12. Press the OPTIONS button.
  13. Select Remove USB then press the ENTER button.
  14. Remove the USB after the message USB is disconnected appears.
  15. Press Power button to power off the set.
  16. The Update is complete now.
    If an error message appears, power off your HDD Recorder and repeat the update procedure from the beginning.
  17. Check the HDD Recorder firmware version:
    • Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the HDD Recorder is connected.
    • Power on the HDD Recorder.
    • On the remote control, Press the SYSTEM MENU button.
    • Select Others.
    • Press the ENTER button.
    • Select Diagnostics.
    • Press the ENTER button.
    • Select System Information.
    • Press the ENTER button.
    • The firmware version currently installed on the HDD Recorder will be listed on the television screen as SW version. If the version number is not 4.10.r8588, repeat the update procedure from the beginning.
    • To exit, press the RETURN button 3 times.
