Benefits and Improvements
- Provides a security update. (The security level displayed in the Settings menu will be as of February 2024)
- To improve connection stability, you will need to update both the Music Center for PC software and the Walkman firmware to the latest versions. If either is not updated to the latest version, there is a possibility that the Music Center for PC software and Walkman device will not connect properly.
- The date and time must be set correctly on the Walkman or the update notification may not appear. Set them manually if they are incorrect.

Preparation
Check the firmware version
- Swipe the Home screen of the Walkman upwards.
- Tap Settings → About device.
- The model name and software version appear under Device name and Build number respectively.
Note: If your Walkman has already been updated to software version 1.09.00, you do not need to perform the update.
Before you upgrade
- The Walkman should be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- After updating, the firmware cannot be reverted to an earlier version.
- Transfer all data from the Walkman to a computer. Any data that remains on the Walkman may be lost during the update.
- We cannot guarantee that tracks and data will not be damaged or deleted when performing this update.
- Ensure the Walkman has at least 2 GB of free space available to perform the update.
- If there is not enough free space in the built-in flash memory, transfer any unnecessary data back to the computer.
- Make sure the Walkman battery has a 60% charge level and is in the charging state.
- During the installation of this file, confirm that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with administrative rights.
- Users are responsible for any associated communication costs (e.g. Wi-Fi network provider, song purchases, etc.).
Important Notice
For customers using the Music Center for PC software:
- To improve the connection stability, please update both the Music Center for PC and Walkman device software to the latest version.
- If either is not updated to the latest version, they may not be able to connect.
How to set the date & time
- Swipe the Home screen of the Walkman upwards.
- Tap the Clock icon. The current date and time are shown.
Note: If the date and time are correct, the Walkman will appear in the update notification and you will not need to proceed with the remaining steps. - Return back to the Home screen by tapping (Home icon in the Navigation bar) located at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe the Home screen upwards.
- Tap the menu items in the following order: Settings → System → Date & time.
- If Use network-provided time is set to ON, tap Use network-provided time. The options Set date and Set time will appear under Use network-provided time.
- Tap Set date and set the date if it is incorrect. Tap OK to return to the Date & time screen.
- Tap Set time and set the time if it is incorrect. Tap OK to return to the Date & time screen.
- Tap Use network-provided time to turn it ON.

Step 2: Check if the update was successful
After the update, please confirm the new version has been installed successfully by following the steps below:
- Swipe the Home screen of the Walkman upwards.
- Tap Settings → About device. The software version appears in the Build number section.
- If the Build number is 1.09.00, the update was successful.
