Preparation

  • Make sure to log on as Administrator to your computer.
  • Do not turn off the computer until after the update is complete.
  • Failure to follow the instructions, or an interruption in the update process, may cause issues with the software operation.
  • If a Windows needs your permission to continue message appears in the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue to proceed.

Install

  1. On the library screen of the player, tap USB DAC or DAC. Then when a message is displayed, tap OK.
  2. Connect the player to the computer via USB.
  3. Open the Device Manager window on your computer, then click the Sound, video and game controllers.
    Note: If Sony Audio is listed, the driver has already been installed on your computer.
  4. Right-click the WALKMAN and select the Properties.
  5. On the Driver tab, confirm the Driver Provider: Microsoft is displayed.
  6. Select the Update Driver and then click the Search automatically for drivers.
  7. Click the Search for updated drivers on Windows Update. Windows Update window appears.
  8. Select the Check for updates, and if the View optional updates will appear, click the message.
  9. Select the arrow next to Driver updates, select the Sony Corporation - MEDIA -, and then click the Download and install.
    Note: Sony Audio will be listed in the Sound, video and game controllers section of Device Manager.
  10. Right-click the Sony Audio and select the Properties.
  11. On the Driver tab, confirm the Driver Provider and the Driver Version.

    • Driver Version: 8.0.5.3526
  12. The USB Audio driver installation is complete.

How to uninstall the driver software?

  1. Click Device ManagerSound, video and game controllers. Then right-click the Sony Audio and select the Uninstall device.
  2. Select the Delete the driver software for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.
