How to replace the ring rubber on the lens (SEL2470GM2)

How to remove the zoom ring rubber

1. Create a gap by drawing the zoom ring rubber together with your fingers.
   
2. Widen the gap between the lens and the zoom ring rubber by using the bent side of the disassembling tool.
   
3. Find the double-sided tape near the 70 mm mark. Insert the spatula side of the disassembling tool and remove the rubber ring by carefully pulling it up a little and peeling it off from the double-sided tape.
   
4. Remove the lens by turning it toward the mount.
   
5. If there is any double-sided tape left, remove it with the tweezers.
   

How to attach the zoom ring rubber

1. Peel off the double-sided tape from the transparent backing paper.
   Hint: You can maintain the adhesive strength of the double-sided tape by using tweezers instead of touching the adhesive side with your fingers.
   

   Stick the double-sided tape in the frame right next to the 70 mm mark.
   

   After sticking the tape on completely, peel off the blue film.
   Note: Be careful not to touch the double-sided tape as this will weaken the adhesive strength.
   

2. Cover the new zoom ring rubber while protecting the double-sided tape using the disassembling tool.
   
3. Once the zoom ring rubber is positioned in place, press the double-sided tape to stick the rubber on firmly.
   
4. Adjust the zoom ring rubber vertically so that it doesn't protrude from the right position or leave any gaps.
   
5. Adjust the circumferential direction as well while rotating the lens to avoid floating from the zoom ring.
   
6. Turn the zoom ring to check the conditions.
   

How to remove the focus ring rubber

Hint: It's easier to remove or attach the rubber if you extend the lens a little beforehand.

1. Create a gap by drawing the focus ring rubber together with your fingers.
   
2. Widen the gap between the lens and the focus ring rubber by using the bent side of the disassembling tool.
   
3. Remove the lens by turning it toward the mount.
   

How to attach the focus ring rubber

1. Insert the replacement focus ring rubber from the mount side.
   

2. Turn the lens to fit it in place.
   Hint: Place the lens upright so that it's easier to attach.
   
3. Adjust the focus ring rubber vertically so that it doesn't protrude from the right position or leave any gaps.
   
4. Adjust the circumferential direction as well while rotating the lens to avoid floating from the focus ring.
