The remaining battery charge varies between the left and right side of the headphones.
The remaining battery charge is different between left and right sides on the Sony | Headphones Connect app or voice guidance.
Understanding Earbud Battery Levels
Your earbuds work a little differently depending on how you use them. Whichever side (left or right) you use as the main control unit will use a bit more battery than the other side. This means you might notice slight differences in battery levels between the two earbuds. This difference is normal, especially if you're using voice assistant or Service Link features, which can also add to battery use on one side.
Battery Level Display Tips:
- The battery level you see in the app, on your device screen, or hear from voice guidance is an estimate, so it may not be exact.
- For certain Sony models (like WF-1000XM3, WF-1000X, WF-C700N, WF-C500, WF-H800, WF-SP900, WF-SP800N, WF-SP700N, and WF-XB700), battery levels are shown in these four stages (as displayed on the Sony | Sound Connect app screen, screen on an Android smartphone, iPhone or iPod touch, or heard from the voice guidance):
Display Estimated Battery Charge 100% Approximately 71% - 100% 70% Approximately 51% - 70% 50% Approximately 21% - 50% 20% 20% or lower
So if you see small differences between what’s displayed and the actual battery charge, don’t worry—it’s just a rough estimate.
Note:
- If you find that your earbuds battery life is short, refer to the The battery life is short on my Headphones article.
- If your earbuds' battery level drops significantly within a short time (like 30 minutes or less), you may need to send your earbuds for service. Go to Product Repair.
