Important! Read this before you start
- Ensure your Bluetooth headphones is connected to a computer through Bluetooth connection.
- If you are unable to find your Bluetooth device name on your computer, likely your Bluetooth headphones are not connected your computer. To find out how to connect your Bluetooth headphones to your computer, refer to this article
- If you are connecting the headphones to 2 devices simultaneously (multipoint connection) using the Sony | Headphones Connect app, refer to Connect headphones to two devices (multipoint connection) article for more information on how to connect. Note: If only "LE-xxxxx" is displayed when pairing, wait for a while until the model name without "LE-xxxxx" appears in the list and then select it.
- Windows 7 operating system is no longer supported.
- If you have successfully connected the headphones to a computer through Bluetooth but can't hear audio through the headphones or the microphone doesn't work, you may need to change your computer settings. The menu items displayed on the computer may vary depending on the model or OS version:

If there is no sound, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- Open the Start menu and select Settings → System → Sound.
- Scroll down to the Advanced menu and select More sound settings.
- In the Playback tab, select Headphones, then click Set as Default Device.
Note: If you have connected to the computer with the headphones named "LE-xxxxx (model name)", the headphones are paired with the computer in Low Energy mode. This may cause the Bluetooth connection to fail, and you might not be able to hear the sound from the headphones. To avoid this, pair the headphones that don't have "LE-xxxxx" in their name. If only "LE-xxxxx" is displayed when pairing, wait for a while until the model name without "LE-xxxxx" appears in the list. - Select OK to close the setting screen.
If microphone does not work, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Make sure apps have access to the microphone
- If your microphone isn't detected, you may need to give your apps permission to use it.

Select Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and make sure Microphone access is turned on.

Make sure Let apps access your microphone is turned on, then choose which apps have access. Desktop apps won't appear in this list.
If others can't hear me

If your headset has a Mute button, make sure it isn't active.

Make sure that your microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer.

Make sure that your microphone or headset is the system default recording device.

Select Start, then select Settings > System > Sound.

In Input, go to Choose a device for speaking or recording, and select the device you want.

To test your microphone, speak into it. In Volume, make sure the blue bar moves to make sure Windows hears you.
The microphone volume is too low or does not appear to be working at all

Make sure that the microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer.

Make sure that the microphone is positioned correctly.

Increase the volume of your microphone.

Select Start, then select Settings > System > Sound .

In Input, select a microphone to see its properties.
-
In Input volume, make sure the blue bar adjusts as you speak into the microphone.

If it doesn't, go to Test your microphone and Start test. This will help you troubleshoot any issues with your microphone.
If there is no sound, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- On the right side of the computer screen, right-click the Speaker icon.
- Select Open Sound settings, and then select Sound Control Panel.
- Select the Playback tab to show the device list.
- Select Headset labelled with Hands-free, and click Set as Default Device.
Note: If the same headphones model name exists, choose the model labelled with Hand-Free.
Note: If you have connected to the computer with the headphones named "LE-xxxxx (model name)", the headphones are paired with the computer in Low Energy mode. - Make sure apps have access to the microphone, if your microphone isn't detected, you may need to give your apps permission to use it.

To let apps access the microphone, select Start, then select Settings > Privacy > Microphone. Select Change, then turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.

After allowing access to the microphone, you can give access to non-Microsoft-Store desktop apps by ensuring that the switch beneath Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is set to On.
If others can't hear me

If your headset has a Mute button, make sure it isn't active.

Make sure that your microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer.

Make sure that your microphone or headset is the system default recording device.

Select Start, then select Settings > System > Sound.

In Input, ensure your microphone is selected in Choose your input device.

To test your microphone, speak into it and check Test your microphone to make sure Windows is hearing you.
The microphone volume is too low or does not appear to be working at all

Make sure that the microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer.

Make sure that the microphone is positioned correctly.

Increase the volume of your microphone.

Select Start, then select Settings > System > Sound.

In Input, ensure your microphone is selected under Choose your input device, then select Device Properties.

On the Levels tab of the Microphone Properties window, adjust the Microphone and Microphone Boost sliders as needed, then select OK.

Speak into your microphone while checking under Test your microphone to make sure your settings work. If you see the line moving from left to right, your microphone is working. If you see no change, the microphone is not picking up sound.
If there is no sound, follow these troubleshooting steps:
- On the right side of the computer screen, right-click the Speaker icon.
- Select Playback devices.
- Select Headset labelled with Hands-free, and click Set as Default Device.
Note: If the same headphones model name exists, choose the model labelled with Hand-Free.

- Open the Control Panel.
- Click Hardware and Sound.
- Click Sound.
- Click Recording.
- Click your microphone.
- Click Set Default.
The microphone volume is too low or does not appear to be working at all

Make sure that the microphone or headset is connected correctly to your computer.

Make sure that the microphone is positioned correctly.

Increase the volume of your microphone.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Click Hardware and Sound.
- Click Sound.
- Click Recording.
- Right click your microphone, and click Properties.
- Click Levels.
- If the microphone icon has a crossed out red circle next to it, click it to unmute.
If changing computer settings doesn't help
Follow the steps below if changing your computer settings didn't solve the issue:
- Turn the headphones off and then on again.
Note for Truly Wireless headphones: To turn off the headphones, set them in the charging case, close the lid, and then remove them from the charging case. - Restart the computer.
- Reset the headphones.
- Initialize the headphones.
Notes:
- Initialisation returns the headphones to factory settings, and all Bluetooth pairing information is deleted. After Initialisation, delete the pairing information from the computer and perform pairing again.
- If you have connected to the computer with the headphones named "LE-xxxxx (model name)", the headphones are paired with the computer in Low Energy mode. This may cause the Bluetooth connection to fail, and you might not be able to hear the sound from the headphones. To avoid this, pair the headphones that don't have "LE-xxxxx" in their name. If only "LE-xxxxx" is displayed when pairing, wait for a while until the model name without "LE-xxxxx" appears in the list.
- Try connecting the headphones with a different app or computer to see if the issue persists.
