Guide to using Amazon Alexa with wireless headphones

    IMPORTANT: If model-specific information is required to complete any of the steps in this solution, refer to the Help Guide or manual supplied with the product.

    Just push the button on your headphones and talk to Alexa, and you can use the Amazon Alexa app to do things like play music or check news and information that you are interested in without operating your smartphone directly.

    Preparation

    The following requirements must be met to use Amazon Alexa.

    Headphones that support Amazon Alexa

    • To check if your headphones support Amazon Alexa, see the Applicable Products and Categories section of This Article.
    • Update the headphones software to the latest version. Visit the Sony Support website, search for your headphones by entering the model number, and then go to the Downloads section.

    Sony | Headphones Connect app

    The latest version of the Headphones Connect app must be installed.

    Smartphone that supports Amazon Alexa app
    The latest version of the Amazon Alexa app must be installed.


    Initial Settings

    When using Amazon Alexa for the first time, add your device with the Amazon Alexa app.

    1. Turn on your headphones and connect them to your smartphone via Bluetooth.

    2. Start the Amazon Alexa app.
    3. Tap Devices on the bottom of the app.

    4. Tap plus icon in the upper right corner, and tap Add Device.

    5. In the What type of device are you setting up? screen, scroll down on the screen and tap Headphones.

    6. In the Select your device screen, tap your headphone model listed under AVAILABLE DEVICES.

      NOTES:
      • On an iOS device, headphone models are shown as LE_*** (headphones model name).
      • If your headphones are not connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth, the model name will not be displayed under AVAILABLE DEVICES.
      • The images below use the WI-1000X as example.

    7. Tap CONTINUE.

    8. If a screen requesting Bluetooth pairing is displayed, tap Pair.

    9. If the following screen is displayed, tap CONTINUE.

    10. When the Setup Complete screen is displayed, tap DONE.


    How to use Amazon Alexa

    1. Turn on your headphones and connect them to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
    2. Start the Amazon Alexa app.
    3. Start the Sony | Headphones Connect app, select  (Settings), and then change the function of the button or touch sensor to Amazon Alexa.
    4. Push the button (or tap the touch sensor) on the headphones to use Amazon Alexa.
      • To input a voice command, push the button shortly (or tap the touch sensor).
      • To cancel a voice command, push the button (or tap the touch sensor) shortly a second time.

      NOTE: If you do not input a voice command for a certain period of time, Alexa will be cancelled automatically.
