How to use portable wireless speakers with a Soundbar for surround sound (Wireless Surround).

The Wireless Surround feature of the Music Center (SongPal) app and your Sound Bar's User Interface enable you to create your very own Home Cinema Sound system, using a compatible Sony Sound Bar and two identical, compatible Sony Wireless Speakers.

Requirements:

• Two of the same model speakers must be used as the rear speaker.
• The latest firmware update should be installed on the Sound bar and the portable speaker.

IMPORTANT:

• In order to use the Wireless Surround feature with your audio devices, they must be connected, through Wi-Fi, to the same wireless network as your phone or tablet. Wireless Surround is not supported when using Bluetooth.
• While Music Center (SongPal) lets you create a Wireless Surround group whether your Sound Bar is connected to your network through Wi-Fi or via a LAN (Ethernet) cable, we strongly recommend using a cable between your router/Access Point and your Sound bar for the best experience with Wireless Surround.

Wireless Surround setup using the Sound Bar's User Interface

Your Sound Bar's integrated User Interface can help you easily configure your Wireless Surround setup. Follow these simple steps to enjoy a surround sound within minutes.

1. Position 2 identical, compatible Sony Wireless Speakers as rear speakers of your surround sound setup.
   
2. Turn On the TV and set it to the appropriate HDMI input.
3. Launch the Sound Bar's User Interface and select Wireless Surround in the Home screen.
   
4. Select OK.
5. The Sound Bar then initiates the Wireless Surround setup. Press Next to continue.
   
   
   
   
6. Select OK.
7. Then you need to add your rear speakers to the setup. Press and hold the SETUP button of your left rear Wireless Speaker until you hear a confirmation sound.
   
   
   
   
8. Select I hear a sound.
9. Repeat the process for the right rear Wireless Speaker: press and hold the SETUP button of the speaker until you hear a confirmation sound.
   
   
   
   
10. Select I hear a sound.
11. The setup is complete. If you wish to test your new surround sound, select Play test sound. Otherwise, choose Finish to leave the configuration wizard and start enjoying content on your Wireless Surround setup.
    
    
    
    
    

Wireless Surround setup using Music Center (SongPal)
The Music Center (SongPal) app lets you easily configure your Wireless Surround sound setup.

IMPORTANT:

• Make sure that the Music Center (SongPal) app is installed on your mobile device (smartphone or tablet).

  Click the appropriate link below to install the Music Center (SongPal) app on your mobile device.

  • Android devices
  • Apple iOS devices
• A wired connection between your router/Access Point and your Sound bar is recommended where possible.
• If your Sound Bar is connected through Wi-Fi, you will not be able to play content from DLNA servers or from online Music services. Besides, upon completing the setup, the connection between Music Center (SongPal) and your Wireless Surround system will terminate due to hardware restrictions. You will then have to operate the speakers themselves or use the Sound Bar's User Interface to ungroup your speakers.

Follow these simple steps to create your Wireless Surround group:

1. Make sure the Sound Bar and Wireless Speakers you want to use for the setup are connected to the same network as your mobile device running the Music Center (SongPal) app.
2. Position 2 identical, compatible Sony Wireless Speakers as rear speakers of your surround sound setup.
   
   
   
3. Open the Music Center (SongPal) app.
4. Tap Speaker & Group.
5. Select a compatible Sound Bar in your list of devices.
   
   
   
   
6. Tap Group with other speakers.
   
   
   
   
7. Choose Wireless Surround.
   NOTE: If your Sound Bar is connected through WiFi (not recommended), a pop-up window will appear at this point, notifying you of the implications of using Wireless Surround with a Sound Bar connected through WiFi.
   
   
   
   
8. Select the Wireless Speaker you want to use for the left rear channel, then press OK. You will hear a confirmation sound as the connection starts.
   
   
   
   
9. Repeat the process for your right rear channel. Select the Wireless Speaker you wish to use and press OK. You should again hear a connection sound.
   
   
   
   
10. Wait approximately 20 seconds for the connection to occur.
11. Your Wireless Surround group is created. All that is left to do is to give it a name, and you're set to enjoy your content with Wireless Surround sound.
     

NOTES:

• After the connection is made the portable speakers cannot be connected directly to the router.
• If you wish to disband the group or to swap your left and right rear speakers, select Edit Group in your Wireless Surround group's window.

• Selecting Swap left/right will enable you to swap the sound between your left and right Wireless Surround rear speakers.
• Selecting Separate all will completely ungroup your speakers.

• If you are unable to select the Group that you have created using Music Center (SongPal) in the Wireless Speaker System menu of the sound bar, factory reset the sound bar to resolve the issue.
